The short version

  • We use your information to run Pamo, and for little else.
  • Pamo only reads the accounts you choose to connect, and you can disconnect them at any time.
  • Nothing is sent and no money moves without your approval.
  • We don't sell your information or share it with advertisers.
  • You can see, correct, export or delete your information.

Who we are

Pamo is provided by Nexus Tech, of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania ("Pamo", "we", "us"). We decide how and why your personal information is used, and we are responsible for it.

This policy covers the Pamo apps, our WhatsApp service and this website. To ask anything about it, email support@pamo.com.

What we collect

What you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number and language.
  • What you tell Pamo: your messages, requests, reminders, preferences and anything you share or upload, including details about family members or other people.
  • Support messages: what you send us when you contact us.

What you connect

If you connect an account, such as email, calendar or WhatsApp, Pamo can read the content it needs to do what you ask. That can include messages, attachments, contacts and calendar events. Pamo only reaches accounts you connect yourself.

What we collect automatically

  • Device and usage data: device type, app version, IP address, the features you use, and error reports.
  • Website storage: this website keeps your language choice in a cookie and the starters you like in your own browser. Neither is used for advertising.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • provide Pamo, including briefs, reminders, summaries and drafts;
  • remember your preferences and what you've asked Pamo to keep track of;
  • keep your account and our service secure, and prevent abuse;
  • fix problems and improve how Pamo works;
  • send you service messages and answer your questions;
  • meet our legal obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, your consent (such as when you connect an account), our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service, and our legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time.

AI and your information

Pamo uses artificial intelligence to understand your requests and prepare its responses. To do this, relevant parts of your information are sent to the AI providers who work for us, under contracts that limit how they can use it.

We don't use the content of your messages or connected accounts to train AI models unless you clearly choose to allow it, and our providers aren't permitted to use it to train theirs.

Pamo prepares and you decide. It doesn't send messages or spend money without your approval, and it doesn't make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Google account data

If you connect a Google account, Pamo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

We use Google data only to provide the features you ask for. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it. People at Pamo don't read it unless you ask us to, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run Pamo, such as hosting, AI, messaging, analytics and support providers. They may only use it to work for us.
  • People you choose: when you approve a message or add Pamo to a group, others will see what's shared there.
  • Authorities or others where the law requires it, or where it's needed to protect someone's safety or defend legal claims.
  • A new owner if Pamo is reorganised or sold. We'd tell you first, and this policy would keep applying until you were told otherwise.

Other people's information

Your messages and calendars may include details about other people, including your children. We handle that information only to provide Pamo to you. Please share other people's information only where you're entitled to, and ask us if someone needs it removed.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and content: for as long as your account is open, or until you delete them.
  • Connected accounts: when you disconnect one, we stop reading it and delete the content copied from it within 30 days.
  • After you delete your account: we delete your information within 30 days. Backups are cleared within a further 60 days.
  • Records the law requires: for as long as the law requires them.

How we protect it

Your information is encrypted on its way to and from Pamo. We also limit who can access it, and use monitoring and other safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach puts you at risk, we'll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Where it's processed

We and our providers may process your information outside your country, including in places with different data protection laws. When that happens, we use the safeguards the law requires, such as contractual protections.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you access to your information or a copy of it;
  • correct it if it's wrong;
  • delete it;
  • limit or stop how we use it;
  • withdraw consent you've given.

Email support@pamo.com from the address on your account. We'll reply within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires. You can disconnect accounts at any time.

If you're in Tanzania, these rights are protected by the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, and you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission. If you're elsewhere, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Pamo is for adults aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly open accounts for children. If you think a child has signed up, email support@pamo.com and we'll delete the account.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
